Just saw a post asking moms what they would do if they had 10 hours of free time and all the responses were like this:
- Get a full 8 hours of sleep.
- Eat a hot meal for once.
- Watch TV without kids screaming in the background.
- Do my hair.
- Get a pedi and a mani.
- Take a long shower and do a full skin care routine with no interruptions.
- Run errands.
Y’all need to think long and hard before you decide to ever have kids. Every time someone describes what having kids is like it sounds awful. They always try to save themselves by saying ‘but my kids bring me the most joy in the world’.
Maybe this post is harsh, but as a woman having kids just seems like a punishment. I hear so many stories about women losing their identity when they have kids and having no free time, but where are these stories from men??? Men never ever make posts about not being able to eat a full and proper meal because they have to take care of their kid. Men never post about ‘finding themselves after fatherhood’.
It’s so sad because this was a post on a local fb group, and I know a lot of those girls were my age.
We really need to steer women away from having kids before they’re 30. Women need to get a degree, find a career they like, go on a round trip to Europe, get a hobby they like, move to a different state, date around, and do so much more before they even think about having kids.
Maybe it’s just because I live in a small town, but it makes no sense to have a kid before you even leave your hometown. It’s very depressing and I hear so many ‘what ifs’ or ‘maybe if i never had kids I would’ve…’ from mothers it’s sad. Growing up my mother always said if she didn’t have kids or get married so young she would’ve gone back to Germany and she would’ve been a psychologist/author. She would’ve finished that novel she always wanted to write. She would’ve gotten so many degrees she wouldn’t know what to do with all of them. She would’ve learned a bunch of different languages.
I never heard anything like that from my father.
I know this will never reach the women I’m trying to reach, but if you’ve ever considered having kids young DO NOT. If you ever find yourself unexpectedly pregnant consider what you’ll actually be losing when you become a mom.
Gee, I thought these people were the ones who were like “If you don’t like it, you can just move to a blue state.”
And now they’re mad the guy is doing just that?
You can’t oppress and discriminate against someone then be mad when they take their highly useful skill elsewhere.
His point is basically that he’s going to go where he’s wanted. Guys like Brett realize, as he’s leaving that he’s actually beneficial to the society he’s leaving. If he wasn’t, Bret would be celebrating. This brain drain they’re fretting about is entirely of their own bigoted doing. If they’d thought about retaining great contributors to society instead of culture wars, there’d be no issue.
And the guy still is doing his job, by the way. Saving sick kids.
He just wants to do it in a state that doesn’t hate him and his family.
Catch 22.
Brett wants it both ways: You are too important to leave but also not important enough that we cannot treat you horribly.
Dude, pick one.
He’s not leaving “to make a point”.
He’s leaving because the laws make him feel physically unsafe and try to take away his basic rights.
Let me get this straight. If someone’s job is important, they must continue to do it regardless of how much hate they receive? They must proudly tolerate being in danger and let it have zero effect on their ability to do their job?
When can we start treating the police that way?
Accessibility is talked about like it’s only something disabled people need, like it’s an inconvenience or it’s something that goes above and beyond what the average person would expect. But abled people get their accessibility needs met without a thought. They get lights bright enough to see by, stairs, doors wide enough to fit through, chairs at the level they like, and all sorts of other things that are tailor-made just for them.
Abled people do have accessibility needs. The only difference is that abled people are granted access automatically and disabled people have to fight for that same privilege.
Remember when someone was like “haha the funniest thing tumblr could do right now is make it so you get a badge for looking at 600 posts instead of what twitters doing lol” and then they did it. That was pretty awesome. I think the funniest thing tumblr could do right now is stop flagging trans women’s post as sexual right fucking now lol and fix prev tags and get rid of the fucking bigots and racists and nazis for once haha and also apologize for this shit. Wouldn’t that be pretty funny lol haha it would be so funny if they did this
